JCI - CORE Fashion Design

JCI's CORE Fashion Design program changed the way I view apparel and design. The program covered industry standard design tools, while also encouraging experimentation through various brand design assignments. It is because of this education that I am eager to explore the various careers this industry.

The following designs are garments from my JCI graduating collection; STUDS Menswear - Professionally Gay collection. The concept behind the collection was to incorporate fashion, function, and fetish, while adhering to the executive theme of the seasonal launch.

The Slashed Trouser was introduced as a means to incorporate leather into the business staple straight trouser. Featuring an accessory attachment loop next to the right front pocket, and 6 oz Latigo Leather straps connecting the thigh to the calf of the leg, these pants are a strong fashion component of the collection.

The Professionally Gay collection relied heavily on the use of leather, therefore adapting to the unique intricacies of the material were essential. Of the accessories shown above, I decided to create the Card Holder Wallet. In the process of designing and creating the wallet, it was essential to create a sequence of construction that was easy to follow, and clear for newcomers to leatherwork. Simplifying the pattern while retaining the expensive look, without jeopardizing the handmade qualities was difficult, however the final product is adaptable throughout seasons and easily digestible for a vast consumer base.
